Day 2
Buenos Aires, Argentina
First day of the cruise but the ship will not be moving until later today. We would have most of the day to explore Buenos Aires except after having breakfast, organizing the group and shuttling to the Cruise Terminal from where the ship is docked, that does not leave too much time.
Some in the group decided to take the hop-on hop-off bus to maximize the sightseeing time. The five of us decided to take the shuttle to town and then explore ourselves along the main strip on Av. Florida.
Av. Florida is the main tourist walking street. Of course we were offered all kinds of deals along the way such as a guided tour (at the starting end of the street), cambio or money exchange (I would say no less than 60 offers along the way) and leather goods. Apparently we can go to the leather factory and that would be deals to be had.
As much as Av. Florida is a typical tourist area, it is also very much used by the locals. We were easily recognized to be tourists, but we were not pushed too hard and can walk freely.
Like many of the older large city, there are a lot to see within a relatively short distance and we were very satisfied with a few hours of self-guided walking tour.
It seems that with a stationary ship, this day should not have counted towards the number of the days of the cruise. At the end, we were happy to have a chance to see the city before setting sail.
