Punta del Este, Uruguay
Another gorgeous day in Uruguay after a scare that there is a thunderstorm in the area. Sunny and mid-20's. What more can one ask for in a vacation?
We were being tendered to the port. Everything is close by. We asked a couple of locals who said a complete circuit of the suggested walking tour around the entire peninsula takes about 2 hours. Despite discussions among our group about walking or taxiing around last night, everyone set off on foot to the finger sculpture sticking up from the beach. We ended up spending almost 4 hours walking slowly to all the listed tourist spots in town.
The impression about Uruguay has not changed. We felt welcome and safe walking around. The worst behaviour was actually from a few of our fellow passengers who felt the need to rush from one place to another.
What is the deal with half sunken ships in Uruguay? We saw another today!
