Day 6 - Puerto Madryn

Day 6

Puerto Madryn, Argentina

Puerto Madryn is a small town but is also a gateway to the Valdes Peninsula where you may see a range of wildlife. For this time of the year, it is the penguins. Some in the group went to see them and came back with some amazing photos. Also with stories such as that they would have to stop and wait for the penguins to cross the road. That must have been really close.

Others in the group took the opportunity to visit Puerto Madryn which was originally occupied by the Welsh. It is a very small town indeed with not much going on.

We managed to get some cough syrup from the pharmacy pretty much with sign language. Even with the classes and Spanish lessons on the internet, apparently we are not quite ready for everyday use yet.  This makes us more determined to practise our Spanish with our servers and others. We found that on the ship, they automatically default to English unless we try first.

Just before taking the shuttle back, everyone gravitated towards the mall in the middle of town where WiFi is available. Life is definitely different without it.
